Scheduling and Registration Information

Once again, Mad About Ewes will be scheduling ALL classes on an individual basis instead of scheduling a particular class on a given date. If you are interested in taking a class on a week night, at least two participants would be needed to hold a class (recruit a friend!), otherwise, classes can be scheduled on weekdays or Saturdays. Registration for a class can be done by e-mail. Payment is due at the time of registration, either by PayPal or a check in the mail. You will receive a full refund if you cancel no less than (7) days prior to your scheduled class. If a class is cancelled due to inclement weather, it will be rescheduled.

So check out the list below and see if there's anything that interests you! Call or zap me an e-mail to sign up!!!

Beginning Knitting

If you've been thinking about learning how to knit, but haven't found a class that suits your busy schedule, look no further! Beginning knitting consists of two 2-hour workshops, scheduled at your convenience. Come learn basic knitting skills and then, upon completion of the class, start your first project. Participants must provide their own materials: a set of size 8 straight knitting needles, and some practice yarn in worsted weight. Pattern for your first project and other hand outs are provided.

Cost of class: $45

~NEW~   Drop Spinning   ~NEW~

Learning to spin sounds like fun, but a wheel is a big investment. Here's an inexpensive way to start spinning, learn the art of drafting, and then continue practicing your new skills at home with just a small, simple tool.

Welcome to the ancient art of drop spinning. This two hour workshop will take you back to the pre-wheel days of fiber arts, using a tool that is approximately 10,000 years old, and still used all over the world today.

Students will order their drop spindle in advance of the class (zap me an email for details and ordering info). Spinning fiber will be provided. No previous experience needed.

Cost of class: $25

Weird Stuff You Gotta Know

This two hour workshop is designed for the advanced beginner knitter who is ready to move beyond scarves, but needs some more knowledge to do so. All those pattern abbreviations like SSK, PSSO, M1L, and K2togtbl can be confusing and intimidating until you see how they're done - piece o' cake! Bring a set of straight needles in size 7 or 8, and some practice yarn in worsted weight, and learn some simple stitch techniques that will take your knitting to the next level.

Cost of class: $30

Magic Loop

You've been knitting socks or mittens on double pointed needles for years, but you keep hearing about the Magic Loop technique….Say good-bye to those pesky DP needles and say hello to Magic Loop! This is a one hour mini workshop that you can fit in to any busy schedule! Participants need to bring a set of 40" circular needles in any size ranging from a 2 - 8. Practice yarn will be provided.

Cost of class: $15.

Cuff Down Magic Loop Socks

You'd like to start knitting socks, but those double pointed needles look intimidating….Have no fear! This is the class for you. Learn to knit socks, one at a time from the cuff down using the Magic Loop technique. This is a one day class - participants will knit a mini sock in class, and take home a pattern for adult size socks. You will need a 40" circular needle, size 4. Yarn for class sock will be provided.

Skill level: Advanced beginner/intermediate - experience with knitting in the round on a circular needle or double points is helpful. MUST know the long tail cast on.

Cost of class: $40

The Liberation Sock

Are you an avid sock knitter who LOVES new and innovative techniques, but yearns for simplicity of structure at the same time? Would you like to free yourself from pesky paper patterns (love that alliteration) especially when knitting in the car, waiting rooms, etc.? Then this class is for you! Come knit socks "pattern free" - this is my own combination of my favorite toe and heel techniques, rolled into ONE sock method that is completely visual - no pattern needed!

Participants provide their own materials:

  • One 32" or 40" circular needle, size 6
  • about 20 yards of worsted weight yarn in a light color (solid or variegated is OK)
  • Notebook and pen

Skill level: Advanced beginner/intermediate - MUST know long tail cast on - familiarity with magic loop is a HUGE plus. (go to to learn how!)

This is a one day (approx. 4 hr.) class.

Cost of class: $40
