~ Yarns ~

This is probably the MOST exciting part of how Mad About Ewes is changing. Something I've wanted to do for a LONG time is offer knitting and weaving yarns spun from the wool from our very own flock of sheep. Well now, it's going to happen!!!

With the help and expertise of Cottage Criations Mill in Unityville, PA, most of our fleeces will be washed, carded, and spun into luscious, natural colored yarns. At first, we'll start with a nice medium 3-ply worsted weight yarn. A variety of wools will be available: Corriedale, Columbia/Rambouillet, Border Leicester and Romney, just to name a few. Some of our fleeces will be washed and carded to roving for hand spinners as well.

The big difference between our yarns and commercial yarns is that yarns from Mad About Ewes will not be treated with any harsh scouring agents or chemicals, only a very earth-friendly, biodegradable wool wash called Unicorn Fibre Wash.

By early to mid September, online shopping will be added to this website, so you will have the opportunity to order yarns directly from Mad About Ewes - Fibers from the Farm!
